The Mysterious Count of Halloween

Next on Gatchaman, Jinpei goes undercover!  Disguising himself as a mummy, he helps the team investigate the strange disappearace of children all over the city, and comes face-to-face with the mysterious Count of Halloween! Will Jinpei succeed or will he too fall prey.. and disappear! Don't miss the next nail-biting Halloween special episode of Gatchaman!

Here's what else crossed my mind for a pseudo-backstory but felt too much to distill & cram into this pseudo-teaser blurb: the Gatchaman team learns Katse/Galactor has invented a time machine (it opens a portal back to October 1905, in fact). They also learn of Katse's diabolical plan to use this machine to change history.. and take over the world, naturally!  As Katse and his henchmen activate the portal the Gatchaman team crashes their party, ninjaing goons in their way and ninjaing closer & closer to Katse. But they're too late, as he & some of his men hurry through.  Jinpei however, being the closest, manages to sneak through before it closes, but now he's on his own.  Katse soon does an evil Pied Piper, as part of his diabolical plan, and starts recruiting (kidnapping) 1905's youth by mind-control and prepare them for their future in Galactorhood (he'd practically have to "invent" Trick or Treating since that concept came after 1905!).  As for Jinpei, he has a race against time, fitting-in with the locals, somehow foiling Galactor's diabolical plan and try reopen the time-portal to get back to the..!  Okay, so I've stolen ideas from other franchises, like Back to the Future & Star Trek (eg. First Contact)!

Berg Katse, Jinpei and the characters of Gatchaman are created by Tatsuo Yoshida and appear in anime produced by Tatsunoko Productions.  Since their original appearance, Gatchaman has been through several incarnations and adaptations, like Battle of the Planets, G-Force and Eagle Riders, manga/comics an OVA and a live action movie.

Btw, did you know of a real mummy of an Egyptian Pharaoh, known as Khufu as well as Cheops (pronounced KEE-ops)? Whether Jinpei's name, Keop, in Battle of the Planets was named after King Cheops or not, this strongly influenced me what costume Jinpei would wear .  Furthermore, Cheops was the subject of a 1827 novel The Mummy! A Tale of the 22nd Century by Jane C. Loudon.
